Mexico's Arco Norte Deploys Genetec's State-of-the-Art Omnicast Platform As Part of the Core of its Intelligent Transport System

Arco Norte, Mexico’s first “Intelligent Highway,” needed a scalable video and security solution to monitor 223 km of roadway and 14 toll intersections with average daily traffic of 18,500 vehicles. To provide centralized surveillance, toll auditing and traffic management integration, the road operator selected Genetec’s Security Center with the Omnicast video platform, implemented by a Genetec-certified integrator to build an IP-based ITS from the ground up.

Genetec’s Omnicast was deployed over a new fiber-optic network with an initial ~30 Bosch AutoDome PTZ cameras and a later addition of 90 fixed Bosch cameras (a >300% increase in video feeds), distributed NAS storage and local Omnicast instances at toll plazas. Genetec (with Professional Services support) delivered a custom plugin to link toll transactions to specific video clips, integrated feeds into the traffic management system, published 20+ public camera streams, and enabled centralized real-time monitoring—resulting in improved incident response, reliable toll auditing and a replicable platform now being rolled out to other roads.
