A Genetec Case Study
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) faced a significant security challenge in protecting the high-profile 2015 Special Olympics World Games, a massive event with over 500,000 spectators spread across multiple venues. The LAPD needed a way to centralize monitoring and gain live access to over 400 disparate cameras owned by various organizations, all without compromising the open and inclusive nature of the event.
The LAPD deployed Genetec™ Federation™-as-a-Service (FaaS) to seamlessly connect all the distributed Security Center systems into a single, unified command post. This Genetec solution provided the LAPD with comprehensive real-time situational awareness, enabling effective collaboration with partner agencies and ensuring the smooth operation of security throughout the 12-day event. The success of this centralized command model has the LAPD considering a similar Genetec-enabled approach for future city-wide surveillance upgrades.
