Introduces ticketless car parks with Genetec AutoVu Automatic License Plate Recognition

City of Perth Parking, the municipal parking arm for the City of Perth, faced slow, ticket-based entry and exit processes at 34 car parks that increased vehicle idling, paper waste and operating costs. To modernize operations and support its “Greener Place to Park” initiative, CPP trialed and selected Genetec’s AutoVu Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) and the Genetec Security Center unified platform to replace printed tickets and upgrade surveillance and access control.

Genetec implemented AutoVu Sharp ALPR cameras at entries and exits integrated with Security Center and the DATAPARK payment system, enabling seamless ticketless access, centralized monitoring and real-time database sync. The rollout eliminated physical tickets, sped up entries/exits, improved customer service and aided investigations, while delivering measured savings of approximately $25,000–$35,000 AUD per car park annually; CPP is expanding the solution to more sites.
