A Genetec Case Study

How a university increased yearly revenue while writing fewer parking tickets

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), a four-year institution serving over 10,000 students, struggled with unreliable physical permits, permit sharing and fraud, and time-consuming manual enforcement across more than 2,800 spaces and 3,700 permits. To modernize parking operations and reduce ticketing errors, UWL turned to Genetec and its AutoVu Managed Services solution.

By deploying Genetec’s AutoVu Managed Services (cloud-hosted ALPR and pay-by-plate technology), the university eliminated physical hangtags, automated permit checks, and gained real-time data to optimize lot usage. The Genetec AutoVu deployment produced clear results: 150 fewer citations, 200 more permits issued, a 10% year-over-year revenue increase, up to $30,000 saved in labor and materials, 95% ALPR read accuracy, 10–25% higher lot utilization and a 20% rise in event parking revenue.
