Hospital keeps patients, visitors, and staff safe with Genetec Security Center

CHU Sainte-Justine, a 3-million-square-foot pediatric hospital in Montreal serving about 300,000 visitors and 10,000 staff annually, struggled with limited visibility and fragmented security systems—nearly 100 cameras but only a few accessible from the main Security Operations Center, and separate video, access control, and fire alarm systems. To support a planned 65% expansion and gain a scalable, open-architecture solution, CHU selected Genetec Security Center (including Omnicast) with help from systems integrator Panavidéo.

Genetec deployed Security Center and the Omnicast video system to consolidate operations, enabling CHU to manage more than 800 cameras from four control centers, reuse existing Panasonic analog cameras, and add about 600 Bosch IP cameras; Federation links multiple sites and control rooms and lets clinicians view the ER in real time. The Genetec solution improved situational awareness and response times, unified security management, and created a foundation for future integrations (including planning to manage ~900 doors with Synergis), delivering clear operational scale and efficiency gains.
