Case Study: Bell Centre achieves centralized IP surveillance and faster investigations with Genetec Omnicast

A Genetec Case Study

Home of Montreal Canadiens hockey team makes move to IP video surveillance with Genetec Omnicast

Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens, faced an aging analog video system after 20 years of use while managing events with over 21,000 attendees on game days. Seeking a phased, cost-conscious migration that would allow reuse of existing analog cameras, centralized management, and easy future expansion and integrations, the arena selected Genetec’s Omnicast as part of the Security Center platform to modernize its surveillance.

Genetec implemented Omnicast/Security Center, encoding analog cameras to IP (using AXIS encoders), adding new IP cameras, and deploying SV-16 and SV-32 appliances at remote sites federated into a central command. The result: centralized monitoring and faster investigations—video pulled in seconds instead of searching 13 DVRs—easier operator workflows with joystick control, intercom integration, and the ability to reduce operational costs by consolidating alarm monitoring; Genetec’s solution also provides the scalability to add sites and systems over time.
