German Water treatment and Supply Association Implements IP Security Solution to Cut Costs and Enhance Public Safety

Trollmühle Water Supply Association, which supplies and purifies water for 24 municipalities and 43,000 inhabitants in Rhineland-Palatinate, needed to secure dozens of remote wells, tanks and pumping stations and comply with DVGW safety notices after a break‑in highlighted vulnerabilities. Seeking centralized, remote live viewing and tamper‑resistant recording, the association worked with SLK GmbH and selected Genetec’s Security Center unified security platform (deploying the Omnicast video management component) to replace basic DVRs and improve monitoring and incident response.

Genetec’s Security Center with Omnicast was deployed alongside Sony IP cameras, using multistreaming, motion detection, event‑action rules, RAID storage and redundant failover to minimize bandwidth and protect recorded data while enabling centralized live monitoring and future access‑control integration. The Genetec solution simplified operator workflows, sped up investigations and acted as a deterrent—since installation there have been no recorded break‑ins—and allows Trollmühle Water Supply Association to remotely view footage, rapidly identify incidents and better protect its water infrastructure.
