A Genetec Case Study
The City of Fort Lauderdale, a busy Florida tourist destination managing 15,000 parking spaces across streets, lots and garages, faced a complex, manual parking-enforcement process for permits, transient and time‑limited parking. After evaluating options and confirming integration with its T2 Systems parking database, the City selected Genetec’s AutoVu ALPR and Security Center platform to move to pay‑by‑plate, automated enforcement.
Genetec deployed AutoVu ALPR (four systems with SharpX cameras) integrated with T2, Global Parking Solutions pay stations and PayByPhone, automating enforcement and reporting. Within eight months the City booted over 600 scofflaw vehicles and collected more than $200,000, achieving a 1,400% increase in scofflaw identification and recouping the AutoVu investment in two months; the solution also improved officer productivity, route planning and customer convenience and set the stage for virtual permits.
