A Genetec Case Study
The City of Lakeland faced a patchwork of disparate analog and DVR systems and needed a scalable, IP-based security solution to leverage its growing fiber infrastructure and unify surveillance and access control across municipal sites. The city selected Genetec, initially deploying Omnicast for video and later standardizing on Genetec Security Center (including Omnicast and Synergis) to replace aging equipment and support broader, city-wide security objectives.
Genetec implemented a unified Security Center platform across 53 sites—using Axis cameras and HID controllers where appropriate—with Active Directory integration and departmental partitioning for granular control. The deployment now manages roughly 650 cameras and over 450 doors (approaching 700 cameras and 500 doors), supports 200+ system users and 3,300 cardholders, and delivered measurable savings of about $300 per door and $200 per camera by preserving existing investments, while significantly improving operational efficiency and centralized support.
