Bhavnagar City in Gujarat, India, faced rising traffic congestion and an increase in criminal incidents as the city grew, plus the challenge of safely managing massive events like the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra. The Bhavnagar City police sought a scalable video surveillance solution and selected Genetec’s Security Center platform (with Omnicast) to centralize monitoring and improve situational awareness.

Genetec implemented a phased, citywide system—155 cameras feed into the Netra control room using Security Center (including Plan Manager and Omnicast), plus mobile streaming—so officers can pull up video on a map, respond faster, and archive evidence. The deployment produced a reported 20–25% drop in crime (headline: 25% reduction), drove small thefts like chain- and bag-snatching toward zero, cut response times to seconds, and allowed the city to expand coverage as funding became available.
