Enhancing Citywide Safety With Unified Security

The City of Vic, a university town in Catalonia, Spain (population ~40,000), faced fragmented video and access-control systems across the municipality and needed a more efficient, integrated security solution that would leverage existing infrastructure, support officer training, and fit a shrinking budget. To meet these challenges the City of Vic selected Genetec’s Security Center platform, including Omnicast for video management and Synergis for access control, to tie cameras and control elements together on a single platform.

Genetec implemented a centralized command center using Security Center, Omnicast and Synergis to unify video surveillance, analytics, access control and intrusion detection under one interface. The solution broadened situational awareness, reduced intervention times, improved incident response and optimized time and resources while allowing the city to reuse existing assets and scale its security over time.
