Case Study: City of Forbach achieves safer streets and historic landmark protection with Genetec Security Center

A Genetec Case Study

Preview of the City of Forbach Case Study

City leverages historical landmarks to implement progressive video surveillance system

The City of Forbach, France, was struggling with petty crime and vandalism around historic sites like the Schlossberg while its limited, inflexible monitoring system constrained expansion. Working with integrator Sigma IP, the city chose Genetec’s Security Center unified platform — including Omnicast™ video surveillance and Synergis™ access control — to modernize and scale its citywide surveillance capabilities.

Genetec’s solution centralized more than 38 IP cameras (including 14 Arecont multi‑lens units providing 180/360° views) onto a wireless backbone feeding a central server with about 18 TB storage and 15‑day retention, and added map-based Plan Manager, failover archiving, mobile access and Synergis door control. The deployment has accelerated investigations and evidence retrieval, led to apprehensions of vandals, and supported plans to add 20 more cameras, delivering clear deterrence and measurable operational gains for the City of Forbach.
