China Rose Restaurant safeguards patrons and inventory with new Stratocast cloud-based surveillance system

China Rose Restaurant, a long-standing 3,000 sq. ft. eatery in Calgary, needed better visibility into daily operations to protect guests, staff and inventory and to address liability and theft concerns. The owner replaced an older DVR system with Genetec’s Stratocast cloud-based video solution (deployed by partner Contava using Axis cameras) to gain simpler, remote monitoring and more reliable recording.

Genetec’s Stratocast was implemented with vandal‑resistant Axis cameras and One‑Click connection, giving China Rose HDTV-quality video accessible via a mobile app and eliminating on‑site servers. The result: clear remote monitoring from anywhere, retention of recordings increased from about one week to up to four weeks, improved loss/theft oversight, and easier maintenance—outcomes the owner says are “night and day.”
