Cargo marine terminal in Texas fortifies its security perimeter with Genetec Security Center unified platform

Manchester Terminal, a 72.5‑acre private marine terminal in Houston, Texas, needed to upgrade its perimeter security to meet USCG Facility Security Plan requirements and implement TWIC biometric credentialing while modernizing from analog to IP video. The terminal engaged Genetec (via integrator Preferred Technologies) and selected Genetec Security Center along with Omnicast and Synergis to provide a unified platform for video, access control and credential management.

Genetec implemented Security Center to unify about 70 IP cameras (including SightLogix thermal sensors and AXIS PTZs), Synergis access control with TWIC‑compliant readers and handheld TWIC verification, plus VoIP intercom and map/remote access tools. The solution automated TWIC authentication, generated thermal‑camera alarms for day/night intruder detection, kept hundreds of trucks moving with handheld processing, and significantly reduced manual logging and paperwork by enabling electronic reports—helping Manchester Terminal meet compliance, improve situational awareness, and scale security operations.
