A Genetec Case Study
Bloomingdale's, the iconic U.S. department store chain with 38 stores and 16 outlets and roughly $1.1 billion in annual revenue, faced aging analog video recorders that made investigations slow, manual and unreliable—staff often had to collect footage in person and sometimes discovered hardware failures only when retrieving clips. To modernize its security and extract more value from video, Bloomingdale’s turned to Genetec and implemented Genetec Security Center.
Genetec deployed a unified central-command center and Security Center platform to provide real-time visibility across all stores, proactive device and server offline notifications, and remote access via mobile apps. The change simplified maintenance, let central and local teams collaborate more effectively, enabled reuse of existing equipment to reduce costs, and delivered measurable improvements—one fraud case was closed in minutes rather than more than a day—while positioning Bloomingdale’s to expand the platform and deepen customer intelligence.
