A Genetec Case Study
Accrington Academy is a publicly funded secondary school in Accrington, UK, serving 1,150 students. Facing new student-safety legislation, a mix of 1920s and modern buildings, and an inadequate 15-camera analog system that only covered externals and main thoroughfares, the school needed a scalable, budget-conscious IP surveillance solution. After trialing bids, Accrington Academy selected Genetec’s Omnicast video surveillance platform.
Genetec’s Omnicast, installed with integrator GRANTfen, deployed 151 megapixel cameras recorded on two archivers to cover every classroom, main circulation points and nine external areas, with web/remote viewing and integration to the school’s perimeter intrusion detection. The system supports live monitoring (about 25% of the time), helped recover stolen property and led to a higher percentage of bullying incidents being reported, reviewed and resolved — delivering measurable security improvements, greater operational oversight and a stable, future‑proof platform from Genetec.
