Case Study: Grambling State University achieves campus-wide, scalable surveillance and enhanced safety with Genetec Omnicast

A Genetec Case Study

Preview of the Grambling State University Case Study

A Louisiana-based University sets a nationwide example by pro-actively addressing campus safety with stateof-the-art technology

Grambling State University (GSU), a 375-acre campus with roughly 5,200 students and extensive residential and academic facilities, needed to upgrade its limited IP surveillance that constrained deployments to 60 cameras and lacked campus-wide unified monitoring or easy integration with access control. Working with Camera Watch and evaluating vendors, GSU selected Genetec’s Omnicast to meet goals for scalable, enterprise video management and future IP access control integration.

Genetec implemented Omnicast across the campus—initially equipping new residence halls and expanding coverage to more than 260 cameras (with plans to exceed 500), three archive servers for recorded video, and a web client for remote access—replacing the prior fragmented system and enabling centralized monitoring. The Genetec solution improved incident detection and investigations (catching room break-ins, arsonists, vending machine thieves and false-alarm perpetrators), provided archive access to residence management, lowered response times, and set the stage for future Synergis access-control integration.
