The City of Almere, an expanding municipality in the Netherlands, needed a modern, scalable surveillance solution to support its urban growth, centralize management, and upgrade to IP cameras without disrupting daily life. After a public tender, the city chose Genetec’s Security Center platform with Omnicast (implemented by partner VisiOn ISP) to provide an open, enterprise-grade video management system for a new central control station.

Genetec’s Omnicast now manages over 120 IP cameras across the city, feeding five operator workstations and video walls via a dedicated fiber and wireless backbone; map-based Plan Manager, one‑click instant playback and a VisiOn DIS reporting plugin (built on the Genetec SDK) accelerate incident response and evidence reporting. The Genetec solution delivered measurable improvements in situational awareness and operational efficiency—120+ cameras under centralized control, camera add-on capability within a day, faster searches/bookmarking, secure export of video for police, and stronger privacy and access controls.
