Case Study: Sunrun achieves unified cloud access control and Meraki video integration with Genea

A Genea Case Study

Preview of the Sunrun Case Study

High-Powered Security for the Modern Enterprise

Sunrun, a U.S.-based solar, battery storage and energy services enterprise serving over 759,000 customers, faced fragmented on‑premises access control across its offices — at one point managing more than a dozen different systems across 15 locations and 2,400+ users. To unify security and tie door events to camera feeds, Sunrun turned to Genea and its cloud-based Genea Access Control solution.

Genea migrated Sunrun’s disparate systems to a cloud-hosted (AWS) access control platform with out-of-the-box API integration to Cisco Meraki, enabling video-to-door linking, remote monitoring, faster off‑site credential provisioning, and custom badge printing. The Genea deployment now covers 15 locations, supports 2,400+ credentialed users, eliminated on‑prem maintenance overhead, and lets administrators view incident video directly in the Genea dashboard (with alerts pushed to Slack/Teams), delivering measurable gains in operational speed and centralized security oversight.
