JIBO, the social robot company known for its advanced natural language understanding, speech, and facial recognition, needed a faster way to test returned robots at its service and remanufacturing center. With thousands of units coming off the line and limited internal resources, the company’s manual evaluation process was slow, costly, and made it difficult to quickly identify product issues. Geisel Software was brought in to help solve the challenge.

Geisel Software developed a custom testing system for JIBO, including a full Python app running on a Raspberry Pi, a database structure, and a simple GUI that could remotely control the robot, run more than 20 tests, and log results. The solution integrated with JIBO’s APIs and kept devices secure while giving factory workers instant feedback on malfunctioning units. Geisel Software reduced testing time from one hour to less than five minutes per robot, a 92% time savings, helping JIBO speed service, improve issue tracking, increase customer retention, and reduce losses.
