A GE Healthcare Case Study
South Shore Hospital, a not-for-profit acute, outpatient, home health and hospice provider in southeastern Massachusetts, was struggling with a slow, labor-intensive ECG process that delayed transmission, interpretation, and billing. The hospital had a 48-hour turnaround goal for ECGs, but its paper-based workflow and manual data entry made it difficult to meet that target.
GE Healthcare implemented the MUSE Cardiology Information System to streamline ECG workflow with wireless data transmission, faster access to ECGs, and easier online interpretation. As a result, South Shore Hospital reduced errors, sped up report generation, achieved a maximum 24-hour ECG turnaround time, reached 100% physician usage of the new system, and enabled remote access and integration with the Meditech EMR.
