Case Study: Hospital Universitario Son Espases improves radiology workflow and remote access with GE Healthcare AW Server

A GE Healthcare Case Study

Preview of the Hospital Universitario Son Espases Case Study

How thin-client technology is streamlining clinical workflow and enhancing patient care

Hospital Universitario Son Espases, a major teaching hospital in Palma de Mallorca serving the Balearic Islands, faced growing pressure from the rising volume and complexity of CT and vascular imaging studies. With limited access to a small number of dedicated workstations, radiologists had to queue for post-processing tools, delaying reading and reporting, especially for complex cases and after-hours consultations.

GE Healthcare implemented AW Server, a thin-client solution that made advanced Advantage Workstation post-processing tools available directly on PACS workstations and remote computers. The result was faster image review, more reconstructions, reduced need to travel to the hospital while on call, and more efficient multidisciplinary consultation; the hospital also reported that patients receive results sooner and that radiologists can process and report images more quickly across locations.
