Enhancing Clinical Efficiency Throughout a Regional Healthcare System

Sharp HealthCare, a not-for-profit integrated regional healthcare system in San Diego, needed a way to expand its ECG management system from two sites to its full enterprise of hospitals and clinics. Working with GE Healthcare, the organization sought a systemwide cardiology database that would be easily accessible, support standardized training and workflows, and help improve efficiency, quality, and compliance.

GE Healthcare implemented its MUSE® Cardiology Information System to centralize ECG data, enable secure access across Sharp’s intranet, and streamline overreading, billing, and record management. The results were significant: ECG interpretation accuracy rose from 85% to more than 99%, turnaround time dropped from 15 hours to under 5 hours, and Sharp now integrates four hospitals and about 19 clinics while processing more than 13,000 ECGs each month.
