A GE Healthcare Case Study
Aspirus Heart & Vascular, part of the non-profit Aspirus health system in Wisconsin, needed a better way to integrate cardiology information from multiple devices and locations into its EMR and HIS environment. The organization also wanted to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality across a wide geographic service area while enabling faster diagnosis and decision-making for patient care. GE Healthcare’s MUSE cardiology information system was selected to help address these challenges.
GE Healthcare implemented MUSE and connected it with Aspirus’ EMR, billing systems, and a range of devices including ECG, stress, Holter, and bedside monitoring equipment. The results included ECG and stress read turnaround times dropping from 2–3 days to less than 24 hours, with many ECGs read within 1–2 hours, door-to-balloon times under 30 minutes, improved charge capture, and results accessible throughout the health system. The connected workflow also improved pre-hospital 12-lead ECG support for emergency care and helped accelerate treatment for remote communities.
