Xcel Energy Improves Efficiency And Accountability By Implementing Asset Performance Management

Xcel Energy, a major U.S. electric and natural gas company serving millions of customers across eight states, needed better real-time visibility into its assets to meet rising demand, regulatory pressure, and workforce change. To address this, Xcel implemented Asset Performance Management (APM) from GE Digital to collect more timely asset data and replace fragmented tracking with a single industrial application.

GE Digital worked with Xcel to upgrade and expand APM use (from ~240 to 700 users), consolidating Word documents, spreadsheets, and Predix APM data into one dashboard, standardizing event assessments, RCA, and recommendations, and adding automated tracking and escalation alerts. The result: a continuous improvement loop, improved accountability and ability to share best practices, and more than 2,000 hours saved in one year handling event assessments and workflow.
