Case Study: City of Haverhill achieves remote, analytics-driven water and wastewater operations with GE Digital

A GE Digital Case Study

Preview of the City of Haverhill Case Study

The City of Haverhill Water and Wastewater Division Meeting critical needs and maintaining high quality

The City of Haverhill’s Water and Wastewater Divisions provide drinking water to 58,000 residents and produce about two billion gallons a year, operating 24/7 from 32‑year‑old facilities. Facing manually intensive, hardware‑based processes, a need to capture institutional knowledge, and the challenge of preparing for weather‑driven high‑flow events while meeting regulatory quality standards, the City partnered with GE Digital to modernize operations using products such as GE Digital’s iFIX, Workflow, Troubleshooter and mobile app.

GE Digital implemented iFIX and Workflow to automate SOPs and emergency plans, added Troubleshooter for advanced analytics and high‑flow modeling, and enabled mobile access (initially Dell laptops, later a single LTE iPad) for remote monitoring and alarm response. The result: captured plant knowledge for training, five KPIs to monitor performance, faster incident response with reduced maintenance and cost (replacing multiple laptops with one iPad), and improved preparedness—putting the City of Haverhill well ahead of similar facilities.
