Oil & Gas Company engaged GE Digital after estimating up to $100MM in lost production caused by unplanned downtime, maintenance scheduling problems, outdated software, and disconnected equipment‑issue detection. The customer needed an enterprise-wide asset and performance management approach to monitor offshore equipment from onshore and combine real-time insight with predictive analytics.
GE Digital’s Design Thinking team co‑created a prototype with the Oil & Gas Company—conducting site visits, demos, and weekly feedback sessions—to unify predictive analytics and real‑time process optimization. The pilot was authorized for production and the finished solution, now part of GE Oil & Gas’ software suite, aims to improve decision‑making, increase efficiency and help recover the projected $100MM in lost production.
