Increasing Lube Oil Tank Pressure Detected On A Gas Turbine At An Upstream Oil And Gas Facility

Upstream Oil And Gas Facility experienced repeated increases in lube oil tank pressure on a gas turbine (from a normal ~2.0 inH2O to peaks around 3.8 inH2O). GE Digital’s SmartSignal analytics, monitored by GE’s Industrial Performance and Reliability Center (IPRC), detected the anomalous trend in February and again in May and alerted the customer to a potential issue.

Following the IPRC alert, the site proactively inspected the lube oil system, replaced the separator filter and cleaned the flame arrestor before any alarm condition occurred. GE Digital’s IPRC then verified that tank pressure returned to expected levels, avoiding escalation or downtime and demonstrating a clear, measurable recovery from ~3.8 inH2O back to normal operating pressure.
