High Availability, Connected Control Solution Virtually Eliminates Downtime

Mekorot, Israel’s National Water Company that supplies roughly 70% of the country’s water, faced rising production costs, drought-driven demand increases and the need for tighter process control. To improve energy and process efficiency and enable real-time decision-making, Mekorot engaged GE Digital to deploy automation and control technologies, including PACSystems high-availability controllers and an HMI/SCADA operations support solution.

GE Digital implemented PACSystems redundant controllers and a centralized HMI/SCADA monitoring center so the plant can be managed from a single control room with true controller backup and real-time visualization. The result: continuous 24/7 operation even during upgrades, dramatically reduced unplanned downtime, fewer shifts and personnel required, and significant operational cost savings driven by higher availability and efficiency.
