A GE Digital Case Study
Basin Electric Power Cooperative, one of the largest electric generation and transmission cooperatives in the U.S., confronted fragmented calibration and maintenance processes at its Leland Olds Station: seven separate instrument databases, duplicate entries, CMMS-centered calibration tracking, no easy way to log “As Found/As Left” data, and manual documentation that hindered regulatory compliance and a world-class maintenance strategy. To address these issues, Basin Electric engaged GE Digital and its Predix APM solution.
GE Digital implemented Predix APM to consolidate the instrument data into a single calibration management system, cleaned and migrated existing records, simplified the user interface, and added device-specific data sheets. The unified system provided technicians one point of access for certification history and documents, easier routing and tracking of calibrations, and faster updates—resulting in more than $20,000 in annual savings, a 10% reduction in asset failures, and measurable gains in productivity and reduced training and calibration times.
