Case Study: Mirant achieves nearly $1M in first-month value and avoids major unit outages with GE Digital

Preview of the Mirant Case Study

Avoiding Equipment Failures Mirant Achieves Nearly $1 Million in Value in First Month Alone

Mirant, a competitive energy company that produces and sells electricity in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and California and owns or leases about 10,280 MW of generating capacity, needed to improve plant reliability and reduce EFOR. To address this, Mirant implemented GE Digital's real-time predictive analytics software.

GE Digital’s solution runs 24/7 to predict, diagnose, and prioritize developing equipment problems; it provided early warnings of two major air-heater issues that allowed planned maintenance and twice prevented a full 191 MW unit outage, and it identified a failing boiler feed pump coupling that was replaced. Those early detections delivered approximately $1 million in value in the first three weeks alone.
