APM To Improve Reliability And Availability Of RasGas Assets

RasGas, a leading Qatari LNG producer operating seven trains (~37 MM tons/year), needed to reduce costs and improve plant reliability and availability while maintaining safety and environmental standards. To meet this challenge, RasGas engaged GE Digital and deployed its Asset Performance Management (APM) solution on the Predix cloud, leveraging machine sensors, predictive analytics and process optimization.

GE Digital ran a late‑2014 pilot across units in three LNG trains—covering GE and non‑GE equipment—to provide anomaly detection, alerts, historical analysis and plant‑wide visibility. By mid‑2015 the pilot showed early failure detection and process optimization opportunities; GE Digital plans to scale APM to 2,300+ monitored assets and over 65,000 devices, projecting extended asset life and lower operating costs through improved efficiency.
