University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union wanted to capture more auto loans that members were shopping for at dealerships and supplement its CU Direct volume. To address this, the credit union engaged GDS Link to run a trigger-based prescreen and loan-recapture marketing program that monitored member credit inquiries and delivered timely offers.
GDS Link implemented a responsive trigger program that sent loan offers within 24 hours of a credit inquiry and provided daily reporting to enable prompt follow-up; NUFCU also used targeted incentives and staff-trained follow-up. The campaign generated 31 new loans (28 auto, plus 3 halo/other), achieved a 12.3% close rate on trigger offers, returned about $7.58 for every $1 spent in year one ($63,600 interest from $2,700 marketing costs), broke even in two months, and produced loans with average balances $3,005 higher—outcomes supported by GDS Link’s reporting and volume management.
