Vancouver General Hospital modernizes 35,000+ BMS data points with GDI Ainsworth

Vancouver General Hospital, the largest hospital in Metro Vancouver, required continuous modernization of its building systems without any disruption to its 24/7 operations. The challenge was to manage a highly complex, multi-building environment with over 500 zones, ensuring patient comfort and safety were never compromised during any upgrade or retrofit. GDI Ainsworth was engaged to support this ongoing evolution.

GDI Ainsworth implemented a long-term, phased approach to design and install a Delta Controls-based Building Management System (BMS). The solution included retrofitting legacy pneumatic controls, integrating fire alarm monitoring, and executing system-wide upgrades across five buildings. This resulted in the installation of over 35,000 BMS data points with little to no downtime. The project fortified a 25+ year partnership and provided the hospital with a scalable, intelligent foundation for future expansions.
