A GDI Ainsworth Case Study
CBRE and Infrastructure Ontario faced the challenge of balancing indoor air quality with energy efficiency at the Orillia Courthouse, a large government-managed facility. Without precise measurement, they risked either under-ventilation, which compromises occupant health, or over-ventilation, which drives unnecessary energy consumption. They engaged GDI Ainsworth to utilize its tracer particle testing service to validate and optimize their air quality.
GDI Ainsworth conducted 17 clean airflow tests using the ASHRAE Standard 241-2023 methodology. This solution identified that the building was, on average, over-ventilated by 97%, highlighting a significant opportunity to reduce energy use. The data enabled GDI Ainsworth to provide immediate recommendations to optimize the HVAC system, which reduced energy consumption while ensuring compliance with air quality standards and maintaining occupant health.
