How a Legal Aid Org Engaged Volunteers to Build Pro Bono Tools

Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) needed to scale its services for the community's expungement process. The challenge was to build a new technology platform to manage this, especially as traditional law student volunteer opportunities had diminished during the COVID-19 pandemic.

LAFLA partnered with Gavel and engaged volunteers from Southwestern Law School to build a custom expungement platform remotely. By leveraging Gavel, the organization was able to create its dream tool, which significantly helped them scale their pro bono services across the Los Angeles community.
