Blind Veterans UK, a charity supporting vision-impaired veterans, faced the challenge of replacing its website to be maximally accessible, secure, and flexible for its users. They partnered with Reason Digital, who utilized the Netlify platform and its Edge Functions service to build a new high-performance Jamstack site that would overcome these challenges and improve their Core Web Vitals scores.

The solution involved building a static site with 11ty for complete control over accessibility and using Netlify Edge Functions to dynamically handle features like cookie banners and site search, eliminating Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). The results were dramatic, with the new site achieving a near-perfect Lighthouse mobile score of 97 for Performance and 99 for Accessibility, a massive improvement over the old site's scores of 25 and 59 respectively. Netlify provided the secure, flexible, and high-performing platform that enabled these exceptional outcomes.
