A GatherContent Case Study
The University of Reading reorganised its content production after finding that content was siloed within the Student Recruitment team and driven by prospectus deadlines: academics supplied copy directly, web content was treated as an afterthought, and processes, tone and approval were inconsistent across channels. This made online information reactive, slow to update and hard to coordinate across the many stakeholders involved.
They implemented a matrix model with a central Content Team and Marketing Officers as facilitators, defined roles with a RACI matrix, and used GatherContent templates (Data / Print / Web tabs) and a colour‑coded, 25‑step workflow to track drafts, reviews and signoffs. The result is stronger cross‑team collaboration, a more rigorous content schedule, greater consistency between print and web, faster updates online, and a smoother process that lets the Content Team focus on improving quality rather than firefighting.
