A Garner Health Case Study
Metal Exchange Corporation (MEC), a self-funded metals manufacturer, faced unsustainable rising healthcare costs and high employee attrition. Their existing wellness program was not delivering results, and they had limited options to manage spending without cutting benefits or shifting costs to their workforce. To address this, MEC partnered with vendor Garner Health.
Garner Health was layered on top of MEC's existing plan with no network changes. The solution provided employees with a $1,000 incentive for out-of-pocket expenses when they saw recommended, high-performing doctors. This resulted in a 12% reduction in total claims costs per employee per month and net savings of $116 PEPM. In the first year, 47% of employees enrolled, and Garner Health helped MEC achieve $736,000 in annual cost savings while also providing employees with a richer benefit offering.
