Case Study: Boeing achieves lower composite manufacturing costs with Galorath's SEER-MFG

A Galorath Incorporated Case Study

Boeing reduces composite design costs with Galorath using 25+ process models

The customer, Boeing, faced a challenge in reducing the cost of composite manufacturing for aerospace structures. A key issue was the lack of tools for design engineers to assess the cost impact of their material and process decisions early in the design phase. To address this, Boeing and other industry partners in the Composites Affordability Initiative (CAI) collaborated with the vendor, Galorath Incorporated, to develop a solution based on the SEER-MFG™ software tool.

Galorath Incorporated provided the SEER-MFG tool, which was customized with proprietary composite process models from Boeing and other CAI members. This solution enabled engineers to generate accurate cost estimates in minutes, guiding them to more affordable choices and preventing costly design mistakes. The implementation resulted in significant cost reductions for composite structures and provided engineers with insightful feedback, achieving the initiative's goal of making composites more affordable.
