A Gallery Systems Case Study
The Suzie Zuzek Project rescued a 6,000‑object archive of Suzie Zuzek’s watercolor and gouache textile designs and faced a Herculean cataloguing challenge: the materials had never been catalogued, contained duplicate and incorrect copyrighted titles, multiple name variants, and thousands of acetates and related ephemera. After trying several programs, The Suzie Zuzek Project turned to Gallery Systems and its collections management product, The Museum System (TMS), to provide a flexible, museum‑grade database that could evolve with their needs.
Beginning in August 2016, Gallery Systems implemented TMS with hands‑on training and support, enabling media‑rich records, multiple title variants per object, relational links, and bulk data imports. The result was an archive catalogued to museum standards, more efficient cataloguing and exhibition workflows, and increased credibility in the museum world—directly enabling a Cooper Hewitt exhibition (35+ works) and a Rizzoli Electa monograph, and positioning the collection to be shared with a global audience.
