Case Study: Museum für Gestaltung Zürich bridges digital and physical exhibitions with Gallery Systems eMuseum

A Gallery Systems Case Study

Museum Für Gestaltung Zürich celebrates 150 years with Gallery Systems and 2,500-object digital exhibition

The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, a museum with the largest design collection in Switzerland, faced the challenge of innovating for its 150th anniversary by enhancing digital engagement and meaningfully connecting its online and onsite audiences. To achieve this, it leveraged its existing digital platform, Gallery Systems’ eMuseum, to bridge its physical exhibition and vast online collections.

Working with Gallery Systems, the museum integrated an interactive eMuseum station into its new physical exhibition, allowing visitors to browse the digital collection via a touchscreen. This solution, alongside the addition of QR codes linking to eMuseum, created a blended experience that deepened visitor engagement. The implementation provided an intuitive and constantly refreshed way to explore the archive, successfully transforming a static database into a dynamic exhibition feature and setting a valuable example for other cultural institutions.
