A Gallery Systems Case Study
The Blanton Museum of Art, part of The University of Texas at Austin and steward of a 19,000‑object collection, needed to modernize its collections management and online access as part of a cross‑campus digital access initiative funded in part by a $500,000 Mellon grant. Seeking to replace legacy EmbARK systems and enable remote work during the pandemic, the Blanton set a tight six‑month timeline to migrate to TMS Collections and publish online collections with eMuseum.
Gallery Systems delivered TMS Collections, eMuseum, and Managed Hosting plus professional services for data mapping, two iterative imports, and Zoom training. The result was a successful six‑month migration of the 19,000‑object database, secure web access without VPN, stronger reporting via Crystal Reports, and improved workflows for accessioning, rights, reproductions, loans, and exhibition rotations; staff reported no refresher training requests, and the Blanton’s new eMuseum site is set to go live.
