Case Study: SNCF enhances rail security and cuts copper cable theft by 7% with Galigeo's geospatial BI solution

A Galigeo Case Study

Preview of the Sncf Case Study

SNCF uses predictive analytics to ensure transport safety

Sncf, France’s national rail operator, faced rising anti-social behavior, assaults, wilful damage and theft across an extensive network and needed to know where to place cameras and send patrols to have real impact. To address this, Sncf Security adopted Galigeo’s geospatial business intelligence platform to better monitor incidents and equipment in real time and guide operational decisions across hundreds of thousands of kilometres of track and station space.

Galigeo delivered location intelligence and predictive analytics that record incidents on maps, cross-reference them with demographic and weather data, and forecast high-risk areas so teams and cameras can be deployed proactively. Integrated into IBM Cognos and a shared reporting portal, the Galigeo solution gave Sncf a 360-degree BI view, improved response and patrol effectiveness, and contributed to a 7% reduction in copper cable theft.
