The City of Paris faced the challenge of managing dozens of tons of daily waste for over two million residents while containing costs and minimizing disruption. To gain a clearer picture of residents’ habits and optimise collection, SIAC—part of Paris City Council—deployed the Galigeo geospatial business intelligence platform to centralise chip‑sensor data from bins and add a spatial dimension to its analysis.

Galigeo’s solution aggregated fill‑level, weight and location data, supported route and schedule optimisation and was integrated into SAP reporting to share intuitive reports across teams. The result: tailored collection schedules, removal of unnecessary Sunday rounds, a 17% reduction in average distance travelled by dustbin lorries and measurable gains in budget control, noise reduction and environmental impact.
