Galaxy Control Systems Protects Patients and Staff at Psychiatric Hospital

Highland Clarksburg Hospital, a 150-bed behavioral psychiatric center in Clarksburg, WV occupying a renovated 415,000-square-foot facility, needed a fast-tracked, state-of-the-art security upgrade to protect patients, staff and the surrounding community. The project required integrated access control, patient tracking, overhead paging, fire alarm upgrades and HD video, plus special measures for securing interior patient floors and managed elevator usage — requirements met by Galaxy Control Systems’ IP access control platform (System Galaxy) through integrator Appalachian Signals and Products (ASAP).

ASAP deployed Galaxy Control Systems’ System Galaxy integrated with patient-tracking and elevator controls, installing 208 readers, 24 power supplies and 20 Galaxy controllers across the facility. The solution enforces a two-step badge-plus-five-digit PIN on interior doors and elevators, links patient-tracking readers to access rights and alarms for escorted high‑risk patients, and delivered a low‑maintenance system with “very few issues” on site, enabling secure, fast-tracked openings and comprehensive protection for patients and staff.
