A Gaist Case Study
Southwark Council, the London Borough of Southwark, needed a more risk-based approach to highways planning and footway inspections to align with the Well Managed Highway Infrastructure code of practice and its Movement Plan. Existing DVI and SCANNER surveys were not giving the council enough confidence, especially across a network with many 20 mph roads, so it looked for a more detailed camera-based surveying solution from Gaist.
Gaist delivered a quick camera survey using its data and Assetstream, giving Southwark more accurate, detailed condition information to target repairs more precisely and coordinate work across traffic management, parking, and white-lining teams. The results helped the council identify small damaged sections, improve planning and evidence for prioritisation, and deliver a solution that was nearly two-thirds cheaper than previous approaches while providing better data and efficiency.
