A Gaist Case Study
Monmouthshire County Council, the governing body for the Welsh county in south-west Wales, needed a better way to monitor road condition across its 1,600 km network. Working with Gaist, the council sought more detailed evidence to strengthen its maintenance planning, prioritise funding more effectively, and improve its overall management of highway data.
Gaist carried out a carriageway survey using its HighwayView system, giving the council highly accurate imagery and condition data that matched closely with on-the-ground inspections. This helped Monmouthshire prioritise resurfacing and targeted treatments more proactively, improve productivity and efficiency, support decision-making with members and officers, and build a stronger evidence base for future funding applications.
