A Gaist Case Study
The London Borough of Lambeth, an inner London borough managing a heavily used and diverse highway network, needed a more modern and evidence-based way to collect carriageway condition data and select schemes. After attending a conference presentation, Lambeth engaged Gaist to help improve its survey collection and strengthen its scheme prioritisation process, particularly for major carriageway works and risk-based asset management.
Gaist delivered a borough-wide carriageway condition survey and professional services support, including scheme recommendations based on detailed imagery, condition grading, lifecycle modelling and point-based prioritisation. The solution gave Lambeth more granular and transparent data to support decisions, helped it identify viable schemes and major programme opportunities, and improved confidence in presenting selections to Members and the public. Lambeth also gained stronger data for future lifecycle analysis, more accurate contractor planning and pricing, and a more risk-based approach to maintenance that should reduce reactive repairs and compensation exposure.
