A Gaist Case Study
Brighton & Hove City Council was looking for a more reliable way to assess the condition of its road network after losing confidence in SCANNER outputs, which sometimes did not match what staff saw on the ground. The council needed better data to support a risk-based highways strategy, improve asset management, and help prioritise maintenance more effectively.
Gaist provided video surveying through its AssetStream platform, starting with the city’s main A roads and then refining the model as insights came in. The more accurate network data helped Brighton prioritise resurfacing with confidence, build a stronger evidence base for funding, and present a case for an extra £500,000; the council also aims to use the four years of historical data to create a three-year maintenance plan and extend the approach to footways.
